Sponsoring Event 2015: Work for Spitak

Friday, September 25th 2015
Evening Event: 7 pm 
Cevi Center Glockenhof

This year, our sponsoring event for Spitak was a Work for Spitak. Participants donated one working days' salary (or the salary of a certain amount of working hours) to Spitak.

We also organized an online photo competion: Participants in Spitak and Switzerland sent pictures of their working place. During the evening event, among all photographers a prize winner was drawn. During a skype meeting with Spitak, we discussed the day.

Kick for Spitak 2014

The Kick for Spitak 2014 was a full success! 20 Teams have played a great and fair tournement. A big and cordial thank you for this great day and a successfull sponsoring for Spitak to: all football players, the many generous sponsors, the very commited volunteers organizing and conducting the Kick for Spitak, and our price sponsors for the great prices for the winner teams: Zoo Zurich, Rope Park Zurich-Kloten, Mill Museum Mühlerama Zurich, Street Newspaper Surprise, Swiss Lifesaving Assocociation, Hotel Glockenhof and Foundation Gärtnerhaus.

Kick for Spitak 2013

Teams from four different YMCA branches – YMCA Züri 10 and 11, Bubikon-
Wolfshausen and Thurgau – were represented at this years’ «Kick for Spitak»
which took place in the triple sports hall of the ETH Hönggerberg. 17 teams
played against each other in three different age categories. All together, almost
13’000 Francs were collected, which is about twice the amount of last years’
«Kick for Spitak»!

Kick for Spitak 2011

Saturday, September 24th: The soccer tournament „Kick for Spitak“ was already the second sponsoring event for YMCA Spitak in 2011. After last year’s success, the partnerteam held up the idea of playing soccer for our Armenian friends. This year, the weather was sunny and all the players enjoyed the event in a bright autumn-afternoon.

Kick for Spitak 2010

In Zurich as well as in Spitak, a great number of football players gave their best to score. Young and young at heart YMCA-members played soccer in a gym-hall located in the north of Zurich. 110 sportswomen and sportsmen kicked in 19 teams for their partner-YMCA in Spitak. Each team sponsored a sum per scored point.

Work for Spitak 2009

On October 30, 2009, 45 persons donated a day-salary to the „Home for Future“ in Spitak. After this special working day everyone was invited to the Gloggi where they could enjoy Armenian dishes, heard news from Spitak as well as got to hear an interesting podium discussion.

Run the Hope 2008

Regardless of the rain showers many people came to the openair worship organized by YMCA Altstetten and to the sponsoring event to support our project: spectators, active runners and sponsors. 36 runners gave everything they got and ignored the rain courageously. They proved that they really care about the “home of the future”. The spectators and sponsors gave support and motivated the athletes to run faster. The final results were impressing: 289 finished rounds led to a donated amount of 11’944.90 Swiss Francs!

Keep the Hope 2007

To thank all the runners, bikers, sponsors and helpers of  the past  «Run the Hope» events as well as all people interested in Armenia, the armenia-partnership team organized something special.

O n a beautiful sunday in september the armenian «Keep the Hope»  festival took place in Zürich-Altstetten. In cooperation with the Cevi Altstetten, the Altstetten church and young armenians from Zürich, there was a spezial «armenian» ambiance. People gathered together dancing round dances, sharing contemplative moments during prayer, playing football under the direction of an armenian trainer, singing armenian songs,  exchanging views and having a good time. 

Run the Hope 2006

After a open-air worship organized by YMCA members a lot of the visitors took their place next to the route and cheered for the participants. Some even decided to run spontanous or support other runners.

Under bright sunshine 73 kids or adults started on feet or by bike for one hour. All in all they completed 598 laps. The promise of CHF 32'000 brought us a big step closer to the realization of the „Home for Future“ in Spitak. A big thank you for all runners, bikers, supporters and staff.

Run the Hope 2005

On Sunday 4th of September 2005 the second sponsoring event „run the hope“ for the new YMCA building in Spitak held place.

Highly motivated 52 kids and adults ran or biked their rounds on a beautiful course next to the forest in Altstetten. After an hour with big effort there were seen a lot of exhausted, but glad faces. Participants and spectator had also time to take a snack and enjoy the beautiful afternoon.

Run the Hope 2004

On Sunday, 29th of August, a big sponsoring-event for Armenia took place in Altstetten Zurich, combined with the Cevitropolis-funfestival, which was organised by the YMCA’s of Altstetten and Albisrieden.

It was called «Run the Hope» and all the participants who were running or biking did it for the Housebuilding-project of YMCA Zurich. Under blue sky and the warm sun, 54 teams and single-participants (total 83 participants) sweated on their way through forest and fields on the Cevitropolis-ground. Within one hour everybody was doing his best, together they were running or biking 601 laps.
