Child Care

The aim of the program is to prepare kids of the age of 3-6 years old for further school education offering available, trustworthy and high-quality care of them and to fill the lack of such services in Spitak, as well as to give young parents an opportunity to have some free time either to work or to do other things. This is the most popular program with the community among all the other programs realized by Spitak YMCA. It was the very first program started by the organization in 1996. Since then, about 600 kids have participated in this program. 

Scouting

The main ideology of scouting is to live in nature, with nature and for nature. Scouts have meetings once a week in the forms of hiking, gatherings and during these meetings the participants of the program get knowledge about the nature, how to keep it clean and to save it. 

Children learn how they can make a fire, prepare food, have a first aid training, they learn how they can orientate in space with the help of a compass, sun or starts, how to use the Morse code, also  mapping, making bridges and making objects of first need of wood – tables, chairs, and so on. 

During the hiking organized by the scouts children play various interesting games that help to develop their both mental and physical abilities. 

For each meeting a Bible story is presented to the participants as a topic of the day and each of these topics contributes to their spiritual development and teaches them honesty, kindness, respect for people and the environment.  

TenSing

TenSing (Teenager Singing) means teenagers sing. They not only sing but also dance, stage dramas, have devotions, play games and so forth.
One can find an answer to the question “Who am I?” in TenSing. Its ideology is to unify the youth to develop Christian universal principles, such as mutual respect, responsibility, honesty, creativity in them, to develop each individual as a whole spiritually, mentally and physically as well as other universal principles to value them with the following slogan: “The process is more important than the result”. TenSing program works 3 times weekly for 2 age groups: for children of 10-13, and older than 14. 

Puppet Theatre

This program is planned for two age groups: for children of 10-12 and older than 12 years old. Puppet Theatre participants meet 3 days a week and during the meetings, they learn how to make puppets and how to work with them,   speech development, they also stage performances (the duration of which is an hour and a half) and make decorations for them.  

Volunteer Club

The Volunteer Club has started its activity in Spitak since November, 2001. The Volunteer Club young members come together trying to invest their free time and efforts for the organization overall development. 

Computer Course

The aim of the computer course is to give the students knowledge on computer operating and design.
The program is arranged for different age groups. There is a special 1-month course for children of 11-13 years old comprising basic knowledge and elementary skills of computing as well as games.
Older students take a 4-month training course in the following programs: MS Windows XP, MS Word 2007, MS Excel 2007, Corel Draw, Corel PhotoPaint, Internet Explorer.

English Class

The aim of the program is to give systematized knowledge to master language grammar, as well as speaking, listening and reading comprehension. Special literature is used while teaching with audio and video tapes.  The program is arranged in 3 age groups: for children of the age of 7-14, 14-17 and for adults.
There is a rich English library open for public. 

Dance Lessons

This is one of the newest programs of Spitak YMCA but it is quite popular with the kids and their parents. The program suggests classical dance combined with gymnastics elements and Armenian folk dance. The program has different age groups – 5-12, 13-17 and the participants have 3 lessons per week with the duration of 1 hour and a half each.  The program can suggest also amateur dance lessons for adults if demanded. 

Fitness

Men and Women have the possibility to do strength training with different tools. Before that, there is a warm-up at the sports hall with the instructions of a professional instructor.
